Chicken vs. Egg...Solved

That's right, my seven year old has answered the age old question "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?". We were all in car one afternoon and she asks us (her father and I) this question. I am not quite sure these days how to respond to this kind of question. She could be setting us up for a joke (apparently the joke book has made the top 10 list in Mrs. "H" second grade class this year) or she could truly be wondering how the beginning of a chickens life starts right down to the splitting of the embryo. In this particular case she just wanted a "pick one and then let ME tell you what I think" answer from us. She said this, "I think it was the chicken. Because if you think about it babies need their Momas. And if the egg came first they wouldn't be able to raise and take care of themselves. God put the chicken here first so they would be parents for the eggs."

That's really funny, and SO very Hannah!! We answered that question in our family one day this summer as well. It was one of our Sans A/C days, and I made a quick meal of scrambled eggs before we packed up and went down to Chick-fil-A on the corner to suck up their cool air. Katie looked at us and said, "Well, I guess we finally figured out that the Eggs come before the Chickens. But I really think that God created the Chickens first!" Gotta' love their little minds.

Oh, and Topher is still sorry for hitting this afternoon...he mentioned it again on the way home.
